What is prom?
Prom is a formal dance or gathering of secondary school students. this event is typically held at the end of the secondary school for year 11's. Prom is a very popular event among students and teachers and it gives everyone a chance to unwind from their GCSE's they have just taken, as well as saying goodbye before the go on to 6th form or college
Before thoughts of Prom
As some of you might already know, I had my prom in June 2014. I wasn't the most keen person to go to prom as dressing up isn't really my thing. I put myself forward to help organise Prom, this involved organising food, photographers, etc. This was a really fun experience and gave me more confidence to attend Prom. I would defiantly suggest you guys to go for it as well.At Prom
When I got to prom a team of Photographers from The Daily Echo took photos of everyone arriving in their fancy cars. This was really fun as it felt like you were part of a premier to a movie. The only issue I had at prom was my big shoes. I have never in my life walked in shoes that big. You may ask why did you wear such big shoes? Well, I liked my dress far too much and I didn't want to make it shorter encase it went wrong. And being 5ft 1 inch it was too long so I solved this problem with, my shoes. Little knowing that that night I would fall onto the woman standing in the door way collecting tickets...Inside the Prom Venue, there was free food, drinks, photographer and DJ. I spent most of my time out the front at Prom as it was too hot and claustrophobic inside.
Tips
I suggest that you bring extra money to prom to buy photos and drinks. Charge up your phone to 100% before you go, you can use your phone to take photos instead of taking a camera.
Also to save your money, buy your Prom outfit before Prom season!! It will be cheaper and easier to look around. I got my dress from Fab Frocks for half price at £125 instead of £250! Eat before as the food isn't the best. Go natural for make up as you don't want to risk ridiculous foundation lines or lines down your face from emotional tears showing up in photos.
Over all thoughts of Prom
Prom was an amazing experience and for people who don't want to go as you feel like it will be a waist of money, i know how you feel!! But everybody in the end comes out talking about prom and how good it was. Don't miss out! Give it a go!
